The 114th person taken into the Des Moines Sunday Register's Iowa Sports Hall of Fame, he had a remarkable career in athletics, especially as a coach at the University of Southern California where the auditorium in Heritage Hall was named in his honor. Was Dizzy Dean's roommate at St. Joseph's.
